Facebook pay-out to undisclosed amount to 14-year-old girl, whose naked revenge porn snap was posted on the site

FACEBOOK has agreed to pay out to a Brit girl, 14, who had a naked revenge porn snap posted on the website.
Facebook has settled a 'revenge porn' legal case with a Brit schoolgirl
The social media giant settled the legal case involving a Northern Irish teenager, handing over an undisclosed sum of money, a lawyer for the victim confirmed.
The case began in 2014, when the girl reported the repeated posting of the revealing photo on a Facebook "shame page".
She sued the company for damages, claiming negligence, fraudulent use of personal information and violations of data protection law.

During the proceedings, her lawyers had compared the posting of the photos to child abuse.

And Pearse McDermott, who has been representing the schoolgirl, revealed on Wednesday they had reached a confidential agreement with the US tech titan.
He said: "Facebook has agreed to pay the costs of the action."

A spokesman for the social media site declined to comment on the conclusion of the case.

He said Facebook was committed to constantly improving its platform and listening to users.

The spokesman added the company had set up tools to fight against practices known as "revenge porn" – when ex-partners and others post intimate snapshots or videos without permission.
