Rotimi Amaechi, Nigeria's Minister of Transportation has accused a Chinese firm, Chinese Railway Rolling stock Corporation of breaching a contract on the railway construction. It was learnt that Nigeria was to take delivery of 10 additional coaches that will be deployed on the Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan rail lines in June, they are part of the 64 coaches being manufactured for Nigerian rail lines by the Chinese Railway Rolling stock Corporation.

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 1st as public holiday to celebrate the 2019 Workers’ Day. In a statement released today April 29th, the Minister of Interior, Lt.- Gen. A young man was hit by a stray bullet today during a raid in Edo state. Lawyer, Jefferson Uwoghiren, who shared the story, stated that the raid was conducted by police officers of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Edo State Command. "This young man, Dennis Amadasun was rushed to my office early this morning, a victim of gunshot by careless and negligent police officers attached to the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Edo State Command. Dennis was shot and wounded around 2:00am in his house in Ugbiyokho Area of Benin when the police stormed the house allegedly in search of internet fraudsters!!! Bleeding and weak from the injury, Dennis was abandoned and left to die by the officers.

The Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has declined assent to the bill seeking a lifetime pension policy for members of the state House of Assembly. The lawmakers passed the bill into law on Wednesday April 24th after the Leader of the House, Peter Akpe, representing Sagbama Constituency 1, moved the motion for the debate. The bill proposes a monthly pension of N100,000 for members while the speaker and deputy speaker would be entitled to N500,000 and N200,000, respectively throughout their life after serving in the Assembly. In a statement released today April 29th, the State Commissioner for Information, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said the governor conveyed the decision to decline assent to the bill in a letter to the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly on Monday. According to Governor Seriake, the bill was inconsistent with Section 124 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

On Monday afternoon, kidnappers blocked the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, forcing several motorists to abandon their vehicles and head for nearby bushes to avoid being abducted. The development has left many motorists and passengers unaccounted for, just as their belongings were stolen by the kidnappers. A journalist who narrowly escaped the attack reports that the incident happened a few kilometres to Katari village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State at about 3.30pm.

On Monday, the Lagos state house of assembly passed the state’s 2019 appropriation bill of N873.532 billion for 2019, barely a month to the end of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s tenure. The approval came more than 80 days after the governor presented the appropriation bill of N852.316 billion on February 5, to the state assembly. The passage followed the adoption of the report and recommendations of the house committee on budget and economic planning, headed by Gbolahan Yishawu (APC-Eti-Osa II). The house approved N393,841,387,020 from the consolidated revenue fund for recurrent expenditure and N479,691,073,705 from development revenue fund for capital expenditure. The budget size thereby totalled N873,532,460,725 which is N21.216 billion higher than the budget size presented by Ambode. Mudashiru Obasa, the speaker of the house, commended Yishawu and members of his committee for a thorough scrutiny of the budget.

INEC Boss The Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission is replacing all the servers in its national headquarters in Abuja and offices in all the states of the federation. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the allegations in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja. He said the commission’s action was aimed at deleting the actual presidential election results transmitted from the polling centres across the country. He said the action further exposed the culpability of INEC in the manipulation of the 2019 presidential election.

The Ogun state police command have arrested four suspects with a deep freezer loaded with Indian hemp at Iperin area of the Agbara industrial park area of the state. THE ruthless Saudi government is beheading so many people it needs to recruit a deadly new squad of sword-wielding executioners. Men of the Imo state police command have arrested a suspected rapist and cultist who is notorious for luring job seekers, raping them and then taking their nude photos. According to the police, the suspect whose name is Udochukwu Reginald, leads a gang of cultists who work with him. On April 1st, Udochukwu and his gang members took two 18-year-old victims from Orodo Mbaitoli L.G.A on the pretence of going to offer them a job and on getting to their hide-out at Umuezuo Naze Owerri North L.G.A, the suspects blindfolded, raped and took the nude photographs of their victims. They were also given some concoction to drink.

A 37-year-old Nigerian lady has been caught with cocaine contained in condoms and plastic bags found in her vagina in Hong Kong by customs. The 37-year-old lady was taken to hospital for a check-up and confirmed to have foreign objects in her body, South China Morning Post reports.
