On the 10th of June 2020, 409 new confirmed cases and 17 deaths were recorded in Nigeria No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours. Till date, 13,873 cases have been confirmed, 4,351 cases have been discharged and 382 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory

According to reports on SaharaReporters, Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has been confirmed to have diabetes as medical personnel do all they can to save his life from Coronavirus. On Tuesday, SaharaReporters had exclusively reported that kidney failure had further complicated the treatment of the Abia governor, who was moved to Abuja for better care.  A source close to the governor on Wednesday however, told SaharaReporters that, "Abia State governor has diabetes but is in a stable condition

The Governors of Jigawa and Sokoto States yesterday, received ambulances from the BUA Foundation to boost their fight against the dreaded Covid-19 coronavirus.  

The Lagos State COVID-19 response has received 5 ambulances in addition to a cash sum of N200 million earlier received from BUA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of BUA Group, one of Africa’s leading foods and infrastructure conglomerate. The Group Chief Operating Officer, BUA Group, Chimaobi Madukwe, while presenting the COVID-19 response ambulances and cheque to the First Lady of Lagos state, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu commended the effort of the Lagos State Government in curbing the effects of the virus. Madukwe also added that BUA will continue to support various effort across Nigeria to stop the virus.

The Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has confirmed that its late executive director finance and administration, Ibanga Bassey Etang, died of COVID-19. Bassey died on 28 May 2020, throwing up all sorts of rumours. “The family has authorised the Commission to announce that the late executive director tested positive to COVID-19”, Charles Obi Odili, director Corporate Affairs said. “The Rivers State Ministry of Health has written to the Commission to also confirm the cause of death resulting from complications attributable to COVID-19.

The Deputy Governor of Bauchi, Baba Tela, has tested positive to coronavirus. A statement issued by Mukhtar Gidado, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State confirmed it. The statement said Tela contracted the virus while discharging his duties. Prior to the sad announcement, Tela was the Chairman, State Task Force on COVID-19. However, the samples of all his primary contacts have now been taken by the NCDC. His primary contacts have also been advised to remain in isolation until their result is released.

Following the alleged and controversial COVID-19 index case in Kogi State, Governor Yahaya Bello in a state broadcast on Monday, has ordered 14 days absolute lockdown of Kabba-Bunu LGA of the State effective from 12 midnight June 2nd.

The Federal Government has announced the relaxation of the restriction placed on places of worship as part of measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19. The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, announced this during the daily briefing of the panel on Monday. Mustapha, who is also the Secretary to Government of the Federation, said the ban on inter-state travel is still in place. All banks and other financial sector to open and work normal hours and also private offices can go back to normal working hours as long as the workers all reach their house before curfew.

Sequel to further directive of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Enugu State Fire Service, on Saturday, commenced the decontamination and fumigation of Ogbete Main Market, Enugu, Vibesngists Blog reports. It would be recalled that the state fire service carried out the first phase of the exercise in the market on April 1, 2020, shortly after it was shut down by the state government as part of the proactive safety measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in the state. During the first phase of the decontamination of the market, monitored by Gov. Ugwuanyi and heads of security agencies in the state, the State Chief Fire Officer, Engr. Okwudiri Ohaa, hinted newsmen that “the state government will fumigate major markets in the state before they are reopened”.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has said it has put in place arrangements on passenger facilitation, ahead of resumption of flights. The General Manager Corporate Affairs of FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu, stated this while speaking at an aviation webinar organised by Women in Aviation (WIA) Nigeria with the theme: “Aviation: The New Norm in the post COVID-19.” Yakubu warned passengers to expect delays and long hours of checks and re-checks from when they arrive the airport until they depart.

According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), 161 cases were recorded in Lagos, 36 in Rivers, 27 in Edo, 19 -Kaduna, 10 in Nasarawa, 6 in Oyo-, 4 in Kano, 3 in Delta, 3 in Ebonyi, 2 in Gombe, 1 in Ogun, 1 in Ondo, 1 in Borno, 1 in Abia, and 1 in Bauchi State.  276 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.  In total, Nigeria has now recorded 8344 cases of COVID-19. 2385 patients have been discharged from various Isolation centers across the country, while 249 deaths have been recorded.
