Okorocha Bans Keke Napep In Owerri, Replaces Them With 2000 Wagons (PHOTOS)

Tricycle Operators(Keke Marwa) in Imo state will cease to operate in designated areas in Owerri, the State Capital as from Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Only taxis will now be operating in the Capital City. For that reason, the governor shared about 2000 Passat Wagon Vehicles to Keke Operators as a replacement, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, to enable them comply with the directive. Soldiers Invade Ekeremor Community, Bayelsa after Militants Kill 4 Soldiers (PHOTOS)

Armed men ambushed and killed four soldiers in the Ekeremor waterways area of Bayelsa State as they returned from an assignment in the Letugbene community on Monday. According to reports, The gunmen, who outnumbered the soldiers, forced the servicemen to surrender, marched them to a creek, executed them and stole their weapons and military gear. A civilian boat driver with the military detachment attempted to escape but was also shot and killed by the attackers.

THE US staged its own terrifying show of strength today by dropping huge bombs near the North Korean border  - days after Kim Jong-un's latest missile outrage. Four US F-35B fighter jets joined two nuclear-ready US B-1B bombers and four South Korean F-15 fighter jets in the joint military operation over the troubled Korean Peninsula. The rogue state described the drills - which saw target bombing close to its border - as the "rash act" of a desperate nation. "The wild military acts of the enemies are nothing but the rash act of those taken aback," said Kim's mouthpiece, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said. The exercise was designed to "strongly counter North Korea's repeated ballistic missile tests and development of nuclear weapons," a South Korean official told CNN.

Thirty-four of the buildings being demolished are on Lagos Island. General Manager, LASBCA, Engr. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has banned cash payments for passport processing as part of its efforts to eliminate corruption at all passport offices nationwide.‎ NIS spokesperson Sunday James disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Today in Abuja. He‎ said the Comptroller General of the NIS, Muhammad Babandede, directed that all payments for passport processing must be done online and through designated banks‎ henceforth.

The Imo state police command says it is investigating the circumstances that led to the death of the 10-year-old boy, Somto Ibeanusi, who was reportedly killed by a stray bullet during the faceoff between angry traders and police officers during the demolition of Eke Ukwu market in Imo state last Saturday. Photo of Somto's mum weeping above. A stray bullet fired by one of the officers to disperse angry traders who were reportedly attacking them during the demolition, hit the boy who died instantly. The state police command in a statement released yesterday, say they are investigating the matter and also warned residents of the state to desist from making misguided comments about the incident online. INTERPOL confiscates tonnes of illicit medicines in West Africa (PHOTOS)

More than 420 tonnes of illicit pharmaceutical and medical products have been seized in an operation in West Africa coordinated by INTERPOL. Operation Heera (15 May – 17 June) involved some 1,150 law enforcement officials from police, customs and health regulatory agencies in seven countries – Nigeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Niger, and Togo – who sought to dismantle illicit factories and supply chains. Raids on markets, shops, pharmacies, warehouses, vehicles and illicit factories led to the seizure of more than 41 million pills and 13,000 cartons of illicit pharmaceutical and medical goods worth approximately USD 21.8 million. Some 150 people were either arrested or placed under investigation.

VALENCIA have reached an agreement with Manchester United to bring in Andreas Pereira on loan, according to reports. The 21-year-old midfielder impressed with Granada last season, and is now set for another spell in La Liga. He was a key member of Jose Mourinho’s squad in pre-season, but the Portuguese boss will offload him as he cannot guarantee him first team football. A woman identified as Angbiandoo Zainab Adama was attacked at about 11.30pm in her residence last night in Abuja. The boys who were about four(4) in number shot at the door when she was about opening it and in the process, the bullet brushed her arm. According to reports, she was asked to bring money that she kept in the house or provide someone who would give them money that night, else she would be killed.

A 40-year-old man in Kano, Hassan Lawan, who goes by the nickname, Mutuna, allegedly murdered his close friend, Zilani Yusuf, 35, who lent him N50,000. When Yusuf asked Lawan to repay the loan, the suspect chose the devilish option of killing him rather than paying back the loan. The evil deed happened in Bari village, Rogo Local Government Area, Kano State. To actualise his alleged evil act, Lawan invited Yusuf to his house on two occasions, ostensibly to discuss the issue of the loan. The first time, he took Yusuf on his motorcycle to his house at Tarenge Village in Rogo Local Government Area, Kano State. A flash flood emergency has been declared in the Houston area of Texas by the National Weather Service after water reached the second floors of houses south of the city. The heavy rains were brought about by hurricane Harvey, now downgraded to a tropical storm. Reports of water reaching the second storeys of houses and apartment complexes came not only from southern Huston, but also from Dickinson in nearby Galveston County.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen over N8, 627,458,773.36 billion in three accounts of billionaire businesswoman and an associate and friend of former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, Bola Shagaya, at Unity bank. According to the Nation, the anti-graft agency is currently investigating the link between Hajia Shagaya and about 10 firms/account. The billionaire business woman who did not hold any public appointment during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has dragged Unity Bank to the High Court of Lagos State for allowing the EFCC to Post No Debit (PND) on her accounts without a valid court order. According to Hajia Shagaya, the action taken on her accounts violates Section34 (1) of the EFCC Act, 2004.

The menace of kidnapping for ransom in the country took a more frightening twist when 31-year-old Chibuike Okoroafor, brought a new dimension to the crime. Okoroafor resorted to raise money for the burial of his late father and uncle, by going out with his gang to kidnap 10 victims in Imo and Anambra states. The first abductees were 30-year-old Chigozie Ekwegbara and his two sisters, who were kidnapped about 8.00pm at Ornage Fastfood, opposite Asutel, Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State. They were whisked away in a Toyota Highlander SUV of Chigozie and held for five days in Azara Obiato in Mbaitoli Local Government Area, Imo State, until their family paid N2 million to secure their freedom. As Sunday Sun learnt from the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Garba Baba Umar, Chigozie reported the incident after regaining freedom.
