INEC apologises over “drunk” Returning Officer

Salihu Musa, INEC Electoral Officer in Bokkos Local Government of Plateau, on Monday apologised over the “shameful” behaviour of the Returning Officer deployed to the area. Mr Musa was responding to a question raised by the APC Collation Officer in Pankshin, Emmanuel Bok, who sought to know why he (Musa), was declaring the results of elections for Bokkos, instead of the Returning Officer, as stipulated by law. Mr Musa, in his explanation, told the party agents, observers, and INEC officials that the Returning Officer, a university lecturer, was drunk on Sunday and was sacked when he could not perform his duty. “The Returning Officer’s attitude was appalling; he was drunk and couldn’t do anything at all. “I took over the job based on instructions from the INEC headquarters in Jos,” Musa explained. Ex-Governor Of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan Loses Senatorial Bid

Former Delta state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has lost his senatorial bid. Uduaghan who was the governor of Delta state from 2007 to 2015, contested for the Delta South Senatorial district but he however lost to the incumbent Senator, James Manager. According to the INEC returning officer, Professor Oladipupo Adesina, who announced the result, said Manager polled 258,812 votes to win Uduaghan who garnered 125,776 votes.

Saraki Accepts Defeat, Congratulates Winner

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has accepted the outcome of the Kwara Central Senatorial elections in which he lost to APC's Ibrahim Oloriegbe.
