Dele Alli and Harry kane of Tottenham sends Arsenal into a meltdown with a 2-0 (PHOTOS)

Tottenham were certainly too good for ragged Arsenal here, even without being at their best. Goalkeeper Petr Cech was Arsenal’s best player while Arsene Wenger’s team failed to create a chance of note.

Already Tottenham have 77 points, seven more than last season. If they win their final four games to finish with 89 points, that would be a total not bettered by anyone in the top flight since Manchester United won the league with 90 in 2008/09.
It was no surprise, either, as Tottenham have been too good for most people recently. This was their ninth league win on the spin and it tells you everything about how good they have been and just how good Chelsea have been to keep them at arm’s length.

The Premier League title may be beyond Tottenham Hotspur once again this season but this time there will be no need for self-reproach.
146 seconds after taking the lead, Spurs doubled it - but it was in controversial circumstances, Kane going down in the area
After this result, Tottenham’s lead over Arsenal stands at seventeen points. This means that Arsenal cannot catch them and that the guy holding up a sign in the crowd here saying: ‘Mind The Gap’ was right. It’s 22 years since Tottenham have finished above their neighbours and that they are so far clear this time indicates what is happening to both clubs.
The England striker picked himself up to strike a consummate penalty to the right of the wrong footed Cech and make it 2-0

Tottenham have grown stronger, better and more resilient on the back of what happened a year ago and if, as it seems, they will fail to catch Chelsea over the next three weeks it will be no fault of their own.
Tottenham had a golden chance to take the lead midway through the first half, but Alli headed wide of an open goal
Alli was the first to score and the young England player’s goal proved to be the definitive moment of the afternoon. Eriksen showed great footwork to ease past a couple of challenges in the penalty area and his shot from an angle was parried by Cech.
Cech was easily the busier of the two goalkeepers, and had to make another great save from Vertonghen after the break
Alli had supplied Eriksen with the ball in the first place and was still lurking but not favourite to reach the rebound. The 21-year-old was sharp enough to anticipate, though, and the fact he was already on the move as Eriksen shot allowed him to get there ahead of Arsenal defenders and the finish was eventually a simple one.
There were also cheeky scarves on sale digging at Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who is under pressure from the fans
Up in the stands, Tottenham supporters celebrated with an enthusiasm that reflected the significance of the goal but of the occasion, the last derby at this stadium.
Arsenal boss Wenger was overseeing his 50th game against Tottenham - it is not yet known if it will be his last
Arsenal, meanwhile, reacted by imploding. They gave the ball away straight from the kick-off and when Victor Wanyama fed Harry Kane down the left he was felled in the penalty area by a challenge of staggering ineptitude from the Brazilian defender Gabriel.

A bigger humiliation would have met Arsenal and they were spared it by their goalkeeper who saved brilliantly from Jan Vertonghen and then Toby Alderweireld. By the end Tottenham had created 20 goal scoring chances, eleven of them hitting the target. So Cech’s performance was crucial and it was a shame it wasn’t matched by that of Mesut Ozil who was, on the whole, simply awful.
