Jose Mourinho is desperate to add to his midfield options next season with Michael Carrick set to retire and the futures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera unclear.
The Premier League side will offer the Chilean a four-year deal worth £12.7m annually for the chance to link up with fellow countryman Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford.

Vidal moved to the Bundesliga from Juventus in 2015 for £32m.

The Chile international will have a year left on his deal in the summer and could opt to try his luck in England.
United’s hopes of signing Vidal could be helped by the fact his agent is Fernando Felicevich.

Felicevich also represents Sanchez and helped facilitate his move from Arsenal to Old Trafford in January.
Bayern could be tempted to do business as Leon Goretzka will join them on a free transfer.
Could Arturo Vidal link up with Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford?
But speaking last month, Vidal insisted he was not ready to leave.

He said "Bayern is all I want and need.

"I'm solely thinking about Bayern and it is my great dream to win the Champions League. That's why I came here in the first place."

United have also been linked with Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri and Lazio’s Serbian star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
