PSG join £80m battle for De Ligt, brings outrageous wages to the table

MANCHESTER UNITED are facing big competition from French champions Paris Saint-Germain in their battle to snap up £80million Holland defender Matthijs de Ligt.

And PSG are ready to pay the gifted centre-half crazy wages of nearly £70MILLION over five years.
De Ligt is well known to England fans having kick-started the Oranje's devastating fightback against England on Thursday.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had earmarked the Ajax defender for a key role in his Old Trafford revolution.

Barcelona remain the favourites to grab one of the most wanted stars this summer.

But PSG's mega-money is now set to gazump the La Liga champions.

Barca chiefs had offered £6m-a-season to link De Ligt up with his former Ajax team-mate Frenkie De Jong, who joined in a £67m deal this year.
However, the Paris club have told De Ligt's agent Mino Raiola they will pay an astonishing £13.6m and hand him a bumper five-year contract.

The 19-year-old became sought after when he played one of the leading roles in Ajax's incredible run to the Champions League semi-finals.

The Dutch beat Real Madrid and Juventus before losing to Spurs.

De Ligt's equaliser against England in the Nations League forced extra-time as Holland staged an incredible comeback and now take on hosts Portugal in Sunday's final.

His ability on the ball and composure under pressure has belied his tender years and made him such hot property.
