Arsenal held Ismaila Sarr transfer talks straight after Europa League defeat to Rennes

ARSENAL approached Rennes over a transfer of their star Ismaila Sarr straight after their 3-1 defeat in France last week, according to reports.
The 21-year-old forward wreaked havoc on the Gunners' defence in the first leg of their Europa League tie.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos brought Sarr down to receive a second yellow card in the ill-fated game last Thursday, forcing Arsenal to play the whole second half with ten men.

And it was the Senegalese who inflicted the final blow with a late goal, securing a two-goal advantage for Rennes ahead of their trip to London this week.
His electric performance did not go unnoticed by Unai Emery as Get France Football News report that Arsenal inquired over Sarr's availability straight after the match.

The Senegalese ace was thought to be on the radar of Gunners former head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, whose departure has not put an end to the club's interest in the winger.
Sarr's situation has reportedly been monitored by a number of European clubs following his form this season and fine performances at last year's World Cup.

Although Senegal crashed out in the group stages, the African nation were knocked out only because they received more yellow cards than Japan.
Sarr played the full 90 minutes in all three games of the tournament and was one of the shining lights of the team.
He has scored ten goals and added 11 assists in all competitions this season.
Those include four strikes in the Europa League alone.

With his explosiveness and versatility, Sarr could be a perfect fit for Emery, who is lacking a creative, wide forward with goal-scoring aptitude at the Emirates.
