A little under a month ago country artist, Kane Brown and EDM artist, Marshmello, dropped their highly anticipated collaboration, "One Thing Right." The song, co-written by Brown, exposes his bad-boy tendencies, ultimately emphasizing the one thing he got right, hence the title of the song. In Brown's case, his "One Thing Right" refers to his beautiful wife, Katelyn Jae. The couple got married in Nolensville, Tennessee back in October of 2018. The police have arrested 53 kidnap and robbery suspects, through a tip-off from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Intelligence Response Team (IRT), while 22 have been charged to Court in Abia state. According to the Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon, during a press conference held at Police Headquarters in Umuahia, revealed that the introduction of operation Puff Adder launched in the state command is yielding the desired results. He added that a total of eighty ammunition, firearms and other stolen items have been recovered from the suspects.

Thirty-nine-year-old Kenechukwu Eze, a native of Amoli Edem in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, on Wednesday, said his gang members killed one Emmanuel Agundu because he withheld the N18m they realised from Internet fraud. The money was reportedly paid into his Nigerian bank account. Agundu, who was the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Udenu branch, was shot on August 15, 2018, at Obollo-Afor in the Udenu Local Government Area of the state by unidentified gunmen around 7pm, but he survived the attack. However, on September 2, 2018, he was trailed to Uru-Uwani Edem in the Nsukka Local Government Area around 2pm and shot dead.

A Nigerian alleged email scammer wanted for fraud and taking part in international crime, was arrested on Monday by Immigration police at Chaeng Wattana, Bangkok. According to local media, Pol Maj-Gen Phaiboon Noihun and his team were waiting for Bertrand Ifeanyichukwu Akile following a tip-off from a member of the public seeking a reward that he would be at Immigration Complex to extend his visa. Once he arrived Akile was apprehended under a warrant issued for fraud and deception.

Mexican Drug Lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Loera Guizman has been jailed for life by US Court. The notorious drug dealer is popularly known for smuggling illegal drugs – cocaine to be specific – into the US over decades. El Chapo was guilty of drug trafficking, money laundering and the use of firearms.

Governors Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, Emeka Ihedioha of Imo, and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna have commiserated with the former governor of Kaduna State, Ahmed Makarfi, over the death of his father, Muhammad Makarfi. The elderly Makarfi died on Tuesday and was buried in his hometown in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna. In a statement on Wednesday by his chief press secretary, Charles Aniagwu, Mr Okowa commiserated with the family, the people of Makarfi community, and the entire Kaduna State, over the demise of Makarfi.

National Population Commission, NPC, yesterday, announced that the country’s population has hit an estimated 198 million people. Acting National Chairman of the commission, Yusuf Anka, who disclosed this in Abuja at a media briefing on the 2019 World Population Day, said the commission arrived at the figure through application of appropriate census tools. Anka, who spoke on Population Day, with the theme, “25 Years of ICPD: Accelerating the Promise,” however, called on stakeholders and the media to urgently set agenda for conduct of population census in the country. He said: “Fundamentally, it is even more imperative now that Nigeria should undertake the next census in the light of the recommendations of the United Nations, UN, that census should be undertaken every 10 years. “The current population of Nigeria is about 198 million people.

A Lagos Division of the Federal High Court Tuesday approved the forfeiture to the Nigerian government of a plot of land in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The land allegedly belongs to the former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke. Chuka Obiozor, the judge, gave the decision following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to the EFCC, the land, measuring 7,903.71 – 8,029.585 square metres and situated as Plot 9, Azikiwe Road, Old GRA (UAC Property on Forces Avenue), Port Harcourt, was reasonably suspected to be part of proceeds of unlawful activities. The respondents in the application include Mrs Alison-Madueke, Donald Amangbo, and Sequoyah Property Limited.

The Lagos State government on Monday announced plans to install CCTV cameras around the state to check insecurity. The Lagos State deputy governor, Obafemi Hamzat, said this while addressing participants at an event tagged ‘Conversations on Moral Leadership’. It is not clear yet when the project will start or how much it will cost. The event was organised by the Eko Innovation Centre in conjunction with Acumen and African Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA). In his address, Mr. Hamzat who was representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the event, said his administration recognised the role technology can play in fight crime in fast-growing economies like Nigeria. He said closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance camera systems would be employed as an additional tool in fighting crime in the state. “We will be installing cameras in different parts of the state,” he said. “These are cameras that are so sensitive such that if they hear the sound of a gun, they will turn arou...

The police on Tuesday said two of its officers were shot by suspected members of the Shiite Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN). Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria also known as Shiite invaded the National Assembly Complex Abuja today Tuesday July 9th, throwing stones and injuring three police men. The protesting Shiite members were demanding the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky who hs been in detention since 2015 after the group's clash with members of the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna state. Things turned violent when the protesters, who are demanding the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, tried to gain entry into the complex. They threw stones and injured three police officers. The protesters forced their way through the first gate near the Federal Secretariat and headed to the main building where they clashed with security operatives.

Former Imo state governor now serving senator, Rochas Okorocha, has called on the Federal government to as a matter of urgency, establish the Ministry of Happiness to tackle the rising incidence of suicide in the country. The former governor who made news in 2017 after he created the Ministry of Happiness whilst he was still governor of Imo state, made the call during plenary today July 9th. The President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan read the letter from the President to his colleagues at the plenary on Tuesday.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the promotion of the Nigerian Army Chief of Training and Operations, Maj Gen Lamidi Adeosun, to the rank of a Lieutenant General, the same rank as the Chief of the Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai. The Nigerian Army confirmed this promotion in a release on Tuesday. The acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col Sagir Musa, said apart from Adeosun, the President also approved the promotion of “Brig Gen AB Biu, General Officer Commanding 7 Division to the rank of a Major General.”

Three persons have been confirmed dead after a 14-seater commercial bus plunged into the Ososa river in Ogun state. A statement released by the Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC Ogun state command, says the accident happened around 10am at the Ijebu Ode - Sagamu Expressway. A total of 14 people comprising (5male adult and 9Female adult ) were involved in the fatal crash. One male and two females died instantly.

Singer Timi Dakolo's wife, Busola Dakolo has finally filed a complaint with the police following her rape allegation against COZA pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo. This has given the police the go ahead to investigate the allegation which she leveled against the pastor last Friday. Busola Dakolo accused Biodun Fatoyinbo of raping her multiple times 20 years ago while she was still a member of his church.
